(Senior) Application Engineer (m/f/x)

Eresing, München
Full-time
Permanent employee

Who we are

Our goal is a decentralized, flexible, and CO₂-negative energy supply and that’s exactly what we work on every day at Reverion.

We are developing innovative, reversible power plants that can convert gases such as biogas or hydrogen into electricity and heat with very high efficiency, and when needed, reverse the process to transform renewable energy into storable green gases. Reverion power plants achieve efficiencies of up to 80%, making them the most efficient power plants in the world.

Sounds interesting? Join us as (Senior) Application Engineer (m/f/x)!

Your mission

  • Programming and further development of PLC applications in Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 (object-oriented according to IEC 61131-3, Structured Text) for automation and energy systems
  • Design and implementation of scalable, reusable software modules and custom libraries (partly in Python, Rust, C, or C++)
  • Integration of field devices and seamless networking via industrial protocols (e.g., Modbus TCP/RTU, CAN, EtherCAT) into the existing system architecture
  • Development and maintenance of intuitive HMI user interfaces for clear control and monitoring of complex plant processes
  • Connection of systems to our IoT and cloud infrastructure (MQTT, Kafka, InfluxDB / Grafana) for data processing and remote monitoring
  • Independent planning and execution of software tests as well as support during commissioning at test benches and pilot plants

Your profile

  • You hold a degree in engineering, automation engineering, energy engineering, or a related field
  • You bring solid practical experience in PLC programming (preferably Beckhoff TwinCAT 3, alternatively CODESYS or TIA Portal) as well as in structuring modular, object-oriented software architectures
  • You are confident in handling common industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus TCP/RTU, CAN, EtherCAT)
  • You have a basic understanding of control engineering and electrical engineering in order to accurately model the physical behavior of systems within PLC applications
  • Knowledge of high-level programming languages (e.g., Python, Rust, or C/C++) as well as experience with modern software development practices (such as CI/CD) is a strong plus
  • You are confident using version control systems (Git) and familiar with collaborative work in agile environments (e.g., Scrum)
  • Ideally, you have experience in commissioning technical systems, ideally in the field of energy systems, power plants, or process engineering
  • You speak German fluently and English at a good level (minimum B2)

About us

As spin-off from the Technical University of Munich, we're a highly tech-driven energy startup. Our journey began in 2018 with a groundbreaking vision: paving the way to 100% renewable energy by making the most out of biogas. Since then, the team has grown and is ready to overcome all potential market entry barriers.

Reverion is an equal opportunity employer. We embrace diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We are open to all groups of people without regard to age, color, national origin,  religion, gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, marital status, or any other legally protected characteristics.

Do I need to meet all the requirements to apply?
Studies by several different sources have shown that, on average, men will apply for a job if they meet 60% of the application requirements. In contrast, women/non-binary people will seek to match a much higher percentage of the requirements before applying.

We encourage everyone to apply and give us a chance to evaluate your skills and experience. We are all learning on the job, and although the listing above has been carefully compiled, we are also open-minded and interested to hear about the value you can bring to the role and Reverion.

How can I demonstrate that I have particular needs in the application process?
For people living with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or neurodiversity, adjustments and support can make a decisive difference in the application process. If you need any specific accommodations (tools, time, etc.) and feel comfortable disclosing this, please let us know.
